Today, many countries are continuing to work on alternative new technologies in order to make rational use of
existing raw materials and energy sources and production more economical in iron and steel production. Sponge iron
production methods, which are alternative to iron scrap used as raw material in iron-steel production and obtained by
direct reduction, form part of these developed methods. This different approach to the iron and steel sector as a semi-
finished product of sponge iron removes a significant portion of the disadvantages of the scrap in terms of price and
quality.
